Readers Comments...Another Friday Quick Note...

First I would like to thank everyone who has been posting comments on RGV Politics. Secondly, I would hope that many of you who have been posting comments will attend tomorrow's public forum in Weslaco at the Catholic War Veterans Hall. The forum is being sponsored by The Rio Grande Valley Veterans Alliance, and will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thanks to State Rep. Aaron Pena for the information posted on his web site. I'll be taking notes and will publish a post tomorrow night on the event. Until then, hope to see some of you out there, and to everyone, have a great weekend. H.

My question does not have anything to do with the comment you just posted but, I could not resist.

I'm not from your town but from Pharr. Do you cover any news from this city? I keep up with the advance but they leave out alot of details. Mayor's re election is getting heated already.

Hector,

Here is more info on the two slates in Pharr.

As you know by now.

The yellow ticket and the blue have united. And have come up with the following: Blue and yellow signs.

United for a better Image!

Carlos Villegas for Mayor

Irma Elizondo for Comm

Mr. Torrez for Comm

Mr. DeLaGarza for Comm.

(Don't know the Gents first names.)

Proven Leadership
For the people/Para la Gente

Mayor Polo Palacios
Frances Quintanilla (Miss Q) Comm
Adan Farias for Comm
Arturo Cortez cor Comm
(Good Name recognition)

This should be a good race. Reason being, is that Irma and Carlos were on the Mayor's team the last time he ran. The 3R'S
are campaigning with them as well.

Funny thing though, The Mayor helped everybody get elected and now they are against him. Go figure.

Hector,

What's with all the deletions?

Anonymous,
there are two reasons I felt compelled to delete some of the comments. The first one, I was basically trying to clean up shop if you will, to make room for more comments. However, as you can tell, and unbeknownst to me at the time I did it, the comments that were deleted still appear on the comments page as "comment deleted". So much for that, eh? The other reason I deleted a few comments was that I felt that they were objectionable being that they dealt with subjects like left his wife for this person, and this guy is being backed by drug money, etc. I don't have a problem with people's opinion's, but all I ask is that we keep comments on some level of accuracy, i.e. can we back it up. But then I'm being accused by some people of taking sides, well, it's my site, and if they'd taken the time to read the whole site not just one set of comments, they would have seen that the comments I deleted were in effect about the candidates they're backing. Oh well, as the saying goes, you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time. Rest assured, though, that I will no longer be deleting comments on this site unless I deem them objectionable as far as accuracy.
Thanks, H.
