The Valley's New Alternative..."The Paper of South Texas"
Just a quick note of importance this Monday morning. There is a new outlet for those of us that have been feeling a void left by the mainstream media here in the Rio Grande Valley. The first issue of The Paper of South Texas hit newstands this past week, and are on the internet at http://thepaperofsouthtexas.com/ According to the web site, this new alternative has stated,"We'll be hard hitting, relevant, and in some cases, biting. Let the chips fall where they may." Indeed, just what the doctor ordered down here, a publication that will not answer to anyone but themselves. My hats off to David Robledo, editor of "The Paper", for taking a chance for those of us who demand more from the media by way of truthful, factual, and unrelenting reporting. I just read this paper. Is it just coincidental that it came out right before the election or was this the main purpose of this crap. It touts itself as "investigative" and "revealing," yet no investigation was done on some of the endorsements. In looking at the advertisements, which is what keeps papers afloat, my bet is that Lone Star Bank needed a voice. Get rid of the advertisements and you'll win me over. Right now, it sucks!!!!
let me tell you about crap, there so many publications that are distributed around the valley that has people at concerts, at birthday parties and no one has a problem with rushing to pick up and rgv mag to see themselves with friends.......but as soon as smart, ambitious people start something fresh for the valley with quality reporting and asking questions that the so called "real" papers don't ask. THE PAPER has to pay the bills just like everybody else in a business, if not we'd be paying for "THE PAPER" at the corners for more than 50 cents, plus the dime tip.
so get off your high horses and "DO SOMETHING" in your lives, not for yourself, but for your commuities that your kids and your grandkids can enjoy, and not suffer like so many children who go to bed hungry and barely have a warm place to sleep. TO THE THE PAPER: TREAD WATER FOR AWHILE AND SOON YOU WILL BE SWIMMING TOWARD THE MAINLAND!
Quality reporting? Are you serious. When you tout your paper as being "investigative" and your reporters describe themselves as "investigative" and then you put out crap like their first issues, it's CRAP!!! I agree it's some politico's way of getting free publicity before the election. Don't waste your time with it.
